I actually do struggle a bit with narcissism, though not a full-blown personality disorder. So says my therapist.
Just returned from a funeral for a colleague who was a well-liked and loved Godly man who was probably one of the least narcissistic individuals I've ever met. He was Christ-focused, not self-focused - a great model - and the only escape for any of us prone to self-worship.
Exactly what my boss suffers from. Of course, he'll never see it in himself, only those of us who work under him. And what's worse, he's a psychiatrist.
Also one of many Axis II disorders I work with every day (not just with staff). :)
A most despicable of disorders. Not a disorder of the mind as much as a disorder of the character. Read this essay called Narcissism and the Dynamics of Evil , it is well worth the read.
