Yet ANOTHER Reasonable Nut

I happened across this guy's website(s) yesterday. He's the fellow who created the ranting robot. A Christian, conservative, artist, web designer and teacher, homeschools his kids (well, his wife seems to be doing that) and he's funny. What really made me like him, however, was the fact he used to run all his sites on Movable Type and has since migrated to WordPress, the GPL'ed blogging software package.

Just curious, since I work with the Movable Type team -- any feedback you have to offer us about the product? It seems like you have a strong opinion, so I'd love any details you could provide.

hello, Anil. thanks for the comment!

i have enjoyed using the MT product, starting with... 2.6 i think. since i work with AIX and Linux systems, i'm generally oriented toward using GPL'ed software when possible. WordPress has grown considerably since i started using MT and is now robust enough, in my opinion, to use for my work.

so really, it's just a preference. i think MT is a fine product for most users. it has perhaps grown a little too popular (not for you, but for the user), in that exploits have been written, requiring the end user to set up work-arounds. an example is the comment spam issue. WP is not immune to this, but as it is less popular, it still has some security through obscurity.

thanks again!
